OKC is A-O-Kay

So, my mom and sister and her daughter, which would obviously be my niece, went to Edmund, Oklahoma to visit my oldest sister for the week of July 4th. It was like a vacation for my mom. It turns out my cousin and his sister, which again means she is my cousin as well, decided they would travel after work from Dallas to Edmund, which by the way has actually been engulfed by Oklahoma City, to celebrate the holiday as well. Because of logistics, schedules, etc., my family has not seen these cousins for close to two years now. Not to be left out of a spontaneous family reunion, my sisters decided to fly me up to Dallas on Friday so I could tag along in my cousin’s car. That ended up being a very good idea as I was able to play catch up with the both of them.

Once we arrived, we walked into a barrage of family and friends, new and old to partake in one of the biggest barbecues since, well, since I can remember. I would have eaten myself into coma had I not picked up a snack on the way in Gainesville. A word of advice: don’t eat at Taco Casa unless you really like cheese. I had a “Chilada” that was on par with most enchiladas one might find at a competing fast food Mexican restaurant. What completely messed up my entire digestive tract for the next six hours was the topping. This thing was placed in a rectangular, plastic dish that was about 50% larger than the product it encased and was “topped off” with graded cheddar cheese. I didn’t hit chilada until the third bite. I knew I should have not eaten that much at the time, but I do love me some cheese.

Back to the story at hand. I really had a good time and was rather surprised at how nice and active the downtown area of Oklahoma City is. By the way, they call it Bricktown. The weather was very pleasant once the sun went down. The canal reminded me of a mini-San Antonio. Overall, I suppose my gut reaction is… charming.

I told my oldest sister if I could land a good job in my field, among other certain variables, I might think about moving there myself. Of course, there were actually lots of variables and I really don’t see it happening anytime soon. I guess the point here is this: before visiting my sister up there, I wouldn’t have considered it. Go Lisa.
